Your Bio

Hi everyone, and welcome to my photographic portfolio. For me, photography has always been a passion. As a young child, I can still remember so well my original Kodak camera, with it's rolls of film that I would develop myself in trays in the basement. Digital photography has changed the world, but my passion has always been there. Whether it be a street scene, a passing animal, or a good little league game, I can always be found somewhere with my camera. Over the years, countless people have asked if they could buy one of my photos. Usually, I would just print one and give it as a gift. Having not been able to keep up with the demand though, and with the cost of photo printer ink out of control, I decided to create a little gallery here where friends, and even total strangers can buy a print if they want one.

Visting this page and checking out the galleries is something that likely will require more than a visit or two. There are just too many to see in one stop, so come on back and take your time. Even within the galleries where it may seem there are multiple of the same photo, they are actually all slightly different. A leaf falling here or there, or a cloud passing in front of the sun, during a shot can change the whole complexion of the photograph.

Important note on ordering prints. I have made them available in a wide array of sizes and media. Please note that like most upper end digital cameras, the Nikon shoots in the original, "full frame," 2:3 format, so when you select a print size keeping that ratio will give you the full wide frame view that you see here on the screen. For example, order the 4x6, 8 x 12, 12 x 18, 16 x 24 etc., which all have a 2:3 ratio of height to width You can, of course, still order in the more common sizes like 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 if you want, but be aware that the lab will "crop" the sides down from 8 x 12 and so you might miss out on the details to the left and right side of the images. For a close up portrait or a sports shot, that may not matter, but for a landscape it's always best to stay in the original format. Any questions, just email me and I can look at it for you.

Beacon Hill - Boston Massachusetts : There are few places as picturesque and historic as Beacon Hill. These were shot in March 2012 at dusk, with the D700, and the mid width 24-70mm f2.8. Some are single exposures and others are 3 and 5 shot HDR's. As always, make sure you look through each one, as there are three pages and 40 pics and they're all just a little different. If you purchase any, try to keep within the original 3:4 format ratio. In other words, order an 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 24 x 36 as opposed to an 8x10. That way they won't get cropped. They're also available on a host of different media, from ceramic tiles that get hung like a photo, to coffee mugs! Enjoy!!

Boston - Beacon Hill walking tour : These photos were taken on a quick walk around the Boston Common area and Back Bay, with the exception of the Hancock building which was actually taken from my car in traffic. It was a gorgeous April day, just near sunset. For the photographers out there, they were shot with a Nikon D700, 14-24 f2.8, and most are five shot bracketed HDR's. Note to purchasers, as with almost all of my shots, they are in the 2:3 format, so to avoid cropping, stay within that format when ordering sizes. For example, order 4x6, 8x12, 12x18, 16 x24 etc.

Boston Harbor Whale Watch : Over the years I've been on many whale watches, but this was the best. We had several pods of humpback whales engaging in a variety of behaviors. In several you see what's called "open mouth feeding," where the whale skims along the surface taking in krill and small fish. In other shots, you'll see something I've never captured on film before, which is called "bubble net feeding." In this behavior, multiple whales dive deep down into the water and spiral around each other blowing a small curtain of bubbles that traps schools of fish. The whales then swim up through the bubble tube with their mouths open, catching fish by the hundreds. Fpt the photos, this was shot with my D700, outfitted with the Sigma 50-500 f5.6 lens.

Key West - The Conch Republic : Key West is truly one of the most amazing places I've seen. Very hard to describe the ambiance to one who hasn't been there, but it's quite unique. Breathtaking sunsets every night draw crowds from all over the island to the west side, where celebrations honor the setting sun. Sam - Senior Pictures : These are a few shots from Sam's senior photos taken the last couple of weeks. I'm now booking for late September through mid-October dates, with a maximum of 10 students so each can get the time they need. Shrewsbury Massachusetts - Cemetery Tour : These photographs were taken during the September, 2011 tour of Mountain View Cemetery and are among my favorites. One was selected for the cover of the First Congregational Church musical CD which came out this year. For the camera folks out there, all were taken with my Nikon D700, and f2.8 24-70 Nikkor lens. The time exposure shots were accomplished by deliberately lowering the iso to 200 and stopping down the lens into the f18 range to reduce ambient noise and allow for 20-30s shots.

Shrewsbury Massachusetts - Random Beauty : Shrewsbury in 2012 went through what we call the year without snow...with the exception of this crazy storm that hit us on Halloween. There was quite a bit of damage, as the leaves were still on the trees and were weighed down enough to tear off branches. Forgetting the damage though, it was incredibly unique to see fall leaves, blue skies, and white snow all together, and made for some very cool photos.
